When you think of a pedestal, what is it you think of? I bet some of the few things that came to mind were a throne, a support, or a simple platform. And it is true, there are two meanings or implications of the word. The first is the literal translation, a platform. A slightly raised pot where you put something or someone of importance and value on. Maybe a family heirloom, or, in olden days they put royalty or higher-ups higher, so it showed their superiority to everyone else. But figuratively it can mean idealizing someone in your eyes. There are also different types of that kind of pedestal too. One is worshiping the ground someone walks on, thinking they can do nothing wrong, imitating their every move. You've seen them, they are the suck-ups at work, the blind idiots, or just idiots. Now the one that is good, more pertains to love. An example would be a mother loving her children, or just two people who would risk everything for someone else. The worst kind of pedestal ever is to put yourself on one. You become a burden to others, and you seem like a pompous a**hole. Be careful of what you do, and mindful of others.
